This Siamang, we named Deddy, was left behind after his owner died

The adult male siamang was extremely skinny when rescued by JAAN on Tuesday, 23 June 2009, after hardly being fed for many weeks.

Siamangs are protected by law and it is prohibited to buy, sell or keep a Siamang gibbon. Deddy has been handed over to the wildlife centre of the Indonesian Forestry Department and JAAN will strive to relocate Deddy to Sumatra where he belongs.
