Help us to sterilize more cats and dogs

Many people keep dogs as pets but can not give proper care for their pets, and more dogs were forced to live in the streets as strays. Over population caused too many dogs and too little number of people who could care for them. Dozens of puppies are born everyday from these stray dogs, should they live their lives as strays like their parents? |

On September 2009, JAAN found a pack of dogs living in a hotel construction site. There are five adult mix breed dogs living in poor condition, these dogs seem to be labrador mix judging from their appearance, but they are all emanciated, flea ridden, and stressed.

JAAN tried to contact the owners of these dogs, but they don’t seem to care about these dogs. "They are there to guard the site”, they said. But how about their well-being? These dogs are not properly feed, they eat whatever scraps the workers give them, they are not vaccinated, and sometimes they wander off to the streets and ended up abused by the people. And what if these dogs give birth to more puppies? What will happens to the puppies? |

Before we succeeded talking some sense to the owner, one of the female dogs had five puppies. JAAN made an offer to the owner to sterilize their adult dogs and we will try to put the puppies for adoption to good homes. But they still wouldn’t consider the option and decided to give away the puppies as soon as possible. Because of the lack of cooperation from the owners, JAAN decided to take the puppies and place them for adoption. When we went to get the puppies, one puppy was missing, so the remaining four were taken. |

The puppies are: Coki (Male, adopted to a family in Bekasi), Milan (Male, adopted to live with a girl in Sunter), Paris (Female, adopted to a family with children in Countrywood), Tokyo (Male, adopted and was renamed Biscuit, living next door to Paris in Countrywood).

Because the owners of the adult dogs were still hesitant to pay for sterilization, we decided to take the dogs and sterilize them so they won’t breed again. Due to their bad experience with people, it would be hard for them to be placed for adoption. On October 1st 2009, these five adult dogs (3 female, 2 male) were sent back to the construction site after being sterilised.
JAAN is trying to stop the over population by sterilizing strays in Jakarta, please help us to stop the over population!
