In 2005-2006 a campaign against the Safari World Park in Bangkok was started to demand them halt the cruel and retarded boxing show they did with juvenile orangutans. Besides the fact that the orangutans were mistreated for this show, proof was also collected showing that these orangutans originally were taken from Indonesia by illegal way. The campaign was named Send them back home and indeed, with collaboration of the Thai police and Forestry Department, BOS and the Indoensian government the orangutans were confiscated and flown back to Indonesia’s Kalimantan where untill today they are cared for in the Nyaru menteng center. You would say that safari World would have learn from its major mistakes. Yet again, 6 years later, they started with neq boxing shows using orangutans. Maybe the orangutans were again smuggled in, maybe they were captive born, surely this will be and must investigated. But, where ever they came from originally, the whole show is an attack towards their welfare and shows disrespect to our closest relative. Orangutans are critically endangered and such shows are simply not acceptable.
