Five baby, orphaned Orangutans have been confiscated from illegal traders, in just the matter of one week.

Five baby Orangutans have been confiscated in only a matter of one week. After an intensive investigation we managed to arrest an Orangutan/wildlife trader last Sunday in Jakarta. A baby Orangutan was sent by box inside a public bus coming from Lampung!

This arrest lead to the supplier of the Orangutans in Aceh, who was arrested two days later & where we also managed to rescue another four which were still very wild, baby orphaned Orangutans. These orangutans clearly were captured from the Leuser National Park which is now under attack of palm oil companies expanding their plantations & destroying the last viable habitat for the Sumatran Rhino, Tigers, Elephants & Orangutans. It is clear that wildlife traders are still very actively capturing & selling endangered wildlife from the area & these five baby Orangutans confiscated are just more victims of their greed.

The traders are going to be sentenced accordingly. The Orangutan baby confiscated in Jakarta has been handed over to the Cikananga Wildlife Center & will be relocated to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Center. (SOCP) where we have brought the other four babies from Aceh today. Despite the brutality these poor babies have been through we are happy to say they have been eating & drinking well & we hope they will be able to leave their horrific trauma behind & be rehabilitated back in to the wild at the SOCP Center, which deserves all support for their hard work protecting the worlds last Orangutans!
