We believe that Zoos are not providing any educational value to the children visiting them as, no matter how you put it, a zoo simply is a prison for animals.

Some good alternatives exist for kids wanting to learn about wildlife which also support those that work hard to protect wildlife and animals, instead of exploiting them for profit.

As most people know, JAAN is able to presentations at schools, but students can also come visit our Educational Centre on Kotok Island located within the Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu). Even though located on a Island, the Centre is easy and fast to reach by boat ride from Ancol Marina, Jakarta.

On the Island, kids can learn about the rescued animals at the center and learn about all wildlife species in the area, their status and the need to protect them. We also teach about the Coral Reef and the Marine Environment and kids have the opportunity to snorkel as well, to observe the reef and marine life!

Besides wildlife, the center also cares for a few rescued dogs and cats, which the kids can interact with while visiting the center.

Beach clean ups and Outbound games are also done here as it’s a great and fun way to learn about the ecosystem at the same time.

The Thousand Islands are also a perfect location for wild bird watching and wild animal watching in general!

The opportunities for students to learn and do at our Educational Centre are endless! We believe educating people in the right way with both respect for humans and animals is highly important so if you’re interested in learning more about our Educational Centre or want to make a booking for your students.
